Die Struktur der ‘paper tables’ erinnert an gestapeltes Papier oder den Schnitt eines Bildbandes. Geschnitten, gesampelt und sortiert wird das Papier zu einem neuen Werkstoff verdichtet, dessen Struktur wie die Maserung des Holzes jeweils eigen und individuell ist. Die Regelmäßigkeit der Papierstreifen wird durch das zufällige Farbenspiel des neu geordneten Prints gebrochen. Es ergibt sich ein Farbmuster, das in winzigen Ausschnitten das ursprüngliche Motiv erahnen lässt.
Gefertigt werden die ‘paper tables’ in einer Fair-Trade-Kooperative in Vietnam. Das genutzte Papier sind recycelte Makulaturdrucke, die sonst weggeworfen würden.
Kleine Handwerksgruppen im ganzen Land bekommen günstige Kleinkredite und werden bei der Vermarktung ihrer Produkte von der Kooperative unterstützt. Zudem wird ein Teil des Gewinns in darüber hinausgehende soziale Projekte investiert.

'paper tables'
The structure of ‘paper tables’ reminds you of stacks of paper or the profile of a large illustrated book.
After cutting, sampling and sorting, the paper is compressed to a new material with an individual texture similar to wood grain.The order of the paper strips contrasts with the random play of colors, arising from the newly sampled prints. The color pattern suggests the original motif.
The ‘paper tables’ are handmade by a fair trade cooperative in Vietnam. The paper used is recycled misprints, otherwise to be discarded.
Craftspeople from all over the country are provided with microcredits and helped building up a business. A part of the benefit goes to social projects involving education and fair trade work.
